Inspired by an ancient Japanese legend known as senbazuru, Ambient & Co created a canopy of glowing origami cranes for the 2018 VIVID festival. 1000 Cranes softly illuminate as visitors walk through the space, allowing them to learn, engage and ponder the relevance of the legend to modern culture.
Megara proudly designed and manufactured the cranes from translucent frosted-clear Promeg sheet. The design elegantly folds around an LED bulb to resemble a traditional origami crane. Ambient & Co assembled over 400 cranes for their installation, with each LED bulb randomly illuminating different colours as visitors explore the installation.
