Our plastic recycling program
With over 30 years of expertise and knowledge within the plastics industry, we promote sustainable recycling solutions for all Corex products and other plastics. The Corex Group are the market leaders in plastic recycling within Australia and globally.
Every sheet of Corflute® is invited to be brought back. We supply industrial size recycling bins called Corpaks® to our clients and distribution partners. We process and recycle all plastic we receive on site. All processed material returned to us has a use within Corex Plastics.
We also invite all Promeg® polypropylene and Megara sheet to be brought back to Corex Recycling. Corex and Megara joined forces in 2022 with the aim of delivering local customers with an Australian manufacturing and recycling one-stop-shop.
Corex Recycling had one of its largest infrastructure upgrades in 2017. The new infrastructure helped cater for rising demands and doubled the pre-existing recycling output. It also allowed for new opportunities to explore previously unseen specialized polymer streams with Corflute, Promeg®, and beyond.

What happens to the plastic that’s brought back to Corex Recycling?
Developed by some of the leading experts in the plastic trade, Corex Recycling garners a no-expense spared array of equipment. Allowing top of the line filtration systems, contamination detection and schematics that indicate every step of the recycling process to trained operators.
We process and recycle every kilogram of plastic we receive on site. That means that we do not export anything! All of the processed material returned to us has a use within Corex Plastics or with other local plastic manufacturers that make recycled products.
Detect and shred
Checking for contaminants in the feed-stock is the first step in ensuring the quality of our recycled polymers. This includes lab testing and visual spot checks of the material before shredding which delivers the required size for further purification.
Heat and melt
Material is then passed through a sensitive metal detector on it’s way to the Cutter Compactor where it’s heated, densified and if required, mixed with additives to achieve the required specification. The next step is the heart of the purification process where the material enters a purpose built melt filtering extruder.
Filtering
This state of the art filtration process insures that our polymers are on specification and fit for purpose. The now molten polymer is passed through fine mesh screens which eliminate pariculates such as paper and PET.
Extruding, cutting & cooling
Polymer pellets are created in a water ring pelletiser, then undergo a centrifugal drying process on their way to the bagging station where regular sampling is carried out. These samples are lab tested to ensure the resin is on spec for Corex Plastics’ Rebound and other 100% recycled products.
