Strip Drain

Corex Strip Drain is the original fully filtered, prefabricated solution that started the sub-surface drainage revolution. It is widely used around Australia and provides a far greater contact area through which water can pass, delivering faster, more efficient drainage.

Overview

We manufacture of a diverse range of drainage products catering for various types of civil and agricultural applications.

Corex Strip Drain is the original fully filtered, prefabricated solution that started the sub-surface drainage revolution. It is widely used around Australia and provides a far greater contact area through which water can pass, delivering faster, more efficient drainage.

Australian made.

Applications

  • Protection of structural objects in roads, railways and building foundations.
  • Draining sports fields, golf courses, reserves etc.
  • Larger sizes can be used as cut-off drains, as the impervious inner core provides a positive intercept for controlling. subterranean flow in cuttings and embankments.
  • In the mining industry for stope drainage and collection of leachates in heap leach operations.
  • Ideal for stabilising sloping sites by lowering the water table and reducing erosion caused by surface water run-off.
  • Salinity encroachment.

Benefits

Description

Strip Drain’s unique design features a geotextile fabric filter, made from 100% recycled polymer, wrapped around a deep-formed HDPE cuspated core.

Benefits

  • Lightweight, flexible and easy-to-join simply by overlapping the cores and taping the geotextile fabric.
  • Significant installation savings with the use of narrow trenches.
  • Compared to conventional subsurface drainage systems, Strip Drain provides a far greater contact area resulting in faster infiltration and therefore a more efficient drainage system.

How it works

Advantages of Strip Drain’s unique `deep fin’ design.

Strip Drain is normally installed vertically in the ground so that it presents a deep  rectangular surface. This unique ‘deep fin’ geometry has been designed to provide  the maximum hydraulic performance for minimum excavation, thus providing more  cost-effective drainage compared with traditional methods.

A soil filter develops within the first few millimetres of soil against the geotextile filter  fabric. As water passes from the original soil into the drain, it washes a few small  particles with it for a short period of time after installation.

As the particles are washed through, a bridging network of slightly larger particles builds up against textile filter fabric, preventing small particles from being washed through, stabilising the soil and allowing only water to pass through the system.
