Christmas Gift Package Case Study
The lead up to the Christmas and New Year holiday break is a fun time for our team. We love creating seasonal packaging and POS displays for our customers.
And when all this fast pace seasonal design and production starts to ease, we take a little time to have some fun to create gifts to give to the clients that have kept us busy throughout the year.
Design & Materials
Corex Gift Package
Our industrial design team created a beautiful unique package manufactured on site here at Corex in Dandenong, Victoria.
The structural design wraps around a selection of sweet and savory treats, fastened together with an integral bow. The design is minimal whilst being whimsical, keeping usability and ease of assembly at top of mind.
We chose to manufacture bespoke PROMEG® sheet for this occasion to create a velvety red interior to present the treats, with a matt white exterior for a premium print surface.
Material: PROMEG® polypropylene – Co-extruded White outside with Poppy Red inside. 0.6mm thickness.
The graphic design elements include fun and quirky characters which are a play on our updated branding and colours. We created customised artwork for each pack with individual or company names.
Design 4 Sustainability
The Christmas Gift Packaging design considers the environmental benefits and impacts of the package along with its cost, function, performance, durability, availability, safety, and adopts the Principles of Design for Sustainability:
- Manufactured from Australian made PROMEG® on site at Corex. Better option than PVC or other harmful, difficult to recycle plastics. Read about PP v’s PVC.
- Only 1 material is used whilst maximising sheet yield (60% used) and minimising waste.
- Tight supply chain: design, material, print, cut and assembly all completed on site at Corex.
- VOC-free inks. Digitally printed–fewer set ups. Less energy.
- All scrap from the job is recycled again on site at Corex Recycling.
- Light weight and energy efficient material.
- Long lasting durable design.
- Innovative aesthetic and concept.
- Quick assembly
- 100% recyclable at Corex Recycling and reused to make PROMEG ecorange® products.
Changes to Our Branding
For almost 3 years, Corex Plastics, Megara, and Corex Recycling have been working together under one roof.
During this time, we have maintained three brands separately whilst working together to deliver customers with an Australian design, manufacturing, and recycling one-stop-shop.
We are now in the final stages of bringing all three of our teams together to share knowledge, add services, and improve communications for our team and customers.
We wanted to update our Corex logo to include a ‘nod’ to Megara.
You will start to see one new brand (logo) that represents all three businesses.
How will this affect how we work?
Whilst our logo may be changing, our people and internal processes remain the same. You can contact us, make enquiries, ask for quotations, and order products in the same way that you have always done.
Our goal is to make our brand integration as seamless as possible for you.
