Corflute® Recycling Program

Give Your Genuine Corflute® a Second Life

Circular economy initiative supporting genuine Corex Corflute® products.

At Corex, we believe responsible manufacturing extends beyond the point of sale. That’s why we operate a Corflute Recycling Program designed to recover and recycle genuine Corex Corflute® products, helping divert valuable polypropylene from landfill and supporting Australia’s circular economy.

As both a manufacturer and recycler, Corex is uniquely positioned to collect, process and repurpose Corflute® into new products, including Corflute® eco, our recycled-content sheet range.

Whether you’re a business, printer, council, event organiser or government agency, we’re here to help create a more sustainable outcome for genuine Corflute® materials at the end of their useful life.

Why Genuine Corex Corflute®?

Corex is both a manufacturer and recycler of Corflute®, allowing us to create a circular recovery pathway for known polypropylene material streams.

Because genuine Corex Corflute® is manufactured in Australia to consistent specifications, it can be more effectively recovered, processed and reused in future manufacturing applications.

By specifying genuine Corex Corflute® from the outset, organisations gain access to a recycling pathway that supports landfill diversion, resource recovery and Australian manufacturing.

Corex remanufactures retired Corflute® into products such as Corflute® eco which is composed of up to 100% recycled content.

Why Recycle Corflute®?

Corflute® is made from polypropylene, a durable and recyclable material that can be recovered and reprocessed into new products.

By participating in the Corex Corflute Recycling Program, you can:

  • Reduce landfill waste
  • Support Australian manufacturing
  • Contribute to a circular economy
  • Improve sustainability outcomes
  • Help recover valuable resources for future use

What We Recycle & How

What We Recycle

The Corex Corflute Recycling Program is designed specifically for genuine Corex Corflute® products.

✓ Separated from timber, metal and other non-polypropylene components

✓ Consolidated for collection or delivery

Learn more about Corflute® Recycling Preparation below.

How we recycle Corflute® for reuse within our circular economy.

Step one

Detect and shred

Checking Corflute® for contaminants in the feed-stock is the first step in ensuring the quality of our recycled polymers. This includes lab testing and visual spot checks of the material before shredding which delivers the required size for further purification.

Step two

Heat and melt

Shredded Corflute® is then passed through a sensitive metal detector on it’s way to the Cutter Compactor where it’s heated, densified and if required, mixed with additives to achieve the required specification. The next step is the heart of the purification process where the material enters a purpose built melt filtering extruder.

Step three

Filtering

This state of the art filtration process insures that our polymers are on specification and fit for purpose. The now molten polymer is passed through fine mesh screens which eliminate pariculates such as paper and PET.

Step four

Extruding, cutting & cooling

Polymer pellets are created in a water ring pelletiser, then undergo a centrifugal drying process on their way to the bagging station where regular sampling is carried out. These samples are lab tested to ensure the resin is on spec for Corex r-PP and other recycled products like Corflute® eco made with up to 100% recycled pellets.
